One more story
Barbie began as a licensed rework of Bild Lilli, a sardonic German comic-strip doll sold mostly in tobacconists and bars; Mattel bought the Lilli rights in 1964 and quietly ended her production. Fifty-nine years later, the first live-action Barbie film out-grossed every superhero release of its year.
